With the Colegiales Trio Sinfónico project, Adrián Iaies takes on the challenge of interweaving Argentine folk music, the language of jazz and improvisation, supported by the music of the symphonic tradition.
In compositional terms, Iaies' writing acknowledges the influences of his teacher Manolo Juárez, as well as other figures such as Eduardo Lagos, the work of Castiñeira de Dios with Anacrusa and, even further back, the legacy of Waldo de los Ríos.
The orchestrations that make up the project are part of original compositions by Iaies, composed for one of the two albums released to date by the Colegiales Trio and a premiere, Chacarera Derrapada written to be performed with Symphonic Orchestra.
Conceptually, in these works the orchestra is not thought of as an appendix of the group. On the contrary, it is integrated to the symphonic formation for a deeper and more authentic symbiosis.
